Michael “Mike” Walker is an Atlanta personal injury attorney and focuses his law practice on representing individuals who have been wronged by the negligent acts of others. Mike Walker is a partner at Piasta Walker Hagenbush, LLC and is a zealous and devoted advocate for his client’s interests and rights. Going up against powerful businesses and insurance companies, Mike has recovered millions for his clients. He has been recognized as a “Top 40 under 40” trial lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers and a “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers magazine, an award given to only 5% of attorneys in Georgia.
Since opening their firm, Mike and his law partners have secured top verdicts and settlements year after year. For example, he and his partners secured Georgia’s largest premises liability verdict in 2018, one of Georgia’s top auto verdicts in 2019, one of the largest auto settlements in 2020, and one of the top premises liability verdicts in 2021. Last year, Mike and his law partners obtained the largest verdict in Dooly County history in a case involving a disputed liability tractor-trailer collision. Mike’s colleagues have called him “a meticulous and fearless litigator” who “is terrific at developing angles for cases that most attorneys would never think of.” One defense attorney remarked that Mike is “one of the few attorneys he would hire” if a family member was hurt or killed.
Mike graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, an honor for graduates in the top 10% of their classes. Following law school, Mike clerked for the Honorable W. Louis Sands in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. Since his clerkship, Mike has devoted his career to representing and helping plaintiffs. He is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyer Association’s Amicus Committee, which drafts appellate briefs in significant cases affecting ordinary people’s right to a trial by jury. He also is a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Access to Justice Committee, which helps secure pro bono services for low-income Georgians. Mike developed a passion for telling ordinary people’s stories as a former newspaper reporter.
Outside of his law practice, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Shelley; son, Myles; and daughter, Josie. He tries to spend as much time as possible in the outdoors.
